The Establishment of Pondok Sejahtera Kasih Bagi Bangsa (PSKB)
January 2002 | The Genesis of Social Ministry
Embarking on its journey at the beginning of the year, precisely in January 2002, the late Reverend Adrianto initiated a Social Ministry specifically dedicated to street children in Cengkareng, West Jakarta, and its surrounding areas. Supported by Mr. Togi and a group of volunteers driven by the same vision, this humanitarian ministry began reaching out to street children, nurturing them within small groups.
February 2002 | Disaster Response & The Halfway House
In early February 2002, severe floods inundated nearly all areas of Jakarta, including Cengkareng. The ministry, which initially focused exclusively on street children, expanded its efforts to assist flood victims. Consequently, to shelter street children and care for displaced youth affected by the disaster, a Halfway House (Rumah Singgah) was established in the Cengkareng Elok area. From morning until afternoon, activities commenced with youth development programs at the halfway house. In the evening, the ministry conducted home visits to provide spiritual guidance for adults.
June 2002 (5 Months Post-Flood) | After-School Tutoring Program
After approximately five months of supporting residents affected by the floods, most parents gradually began to recover and return to their daily routines. However, the struggle was far from over; many residents still required medical assistance, and children critically needed educational support. Recognizing this urgent need, the ministry launched an After-School Tutoring Program. This program served not only as a center for academic learning but also as a platform for character development, aiming to rekindle motivation and restore the children's psychological well-being from post-disaster trauma.
2002 – 2004 | The Era of Pondok Sejahtera
This dedicated social journey continued to progress throughout 2002 to 2004. All activities of this resilient Social Ministry operated under a simple house, which was hopefully named Pondok Sejahtera (The House of Prosperity).
Mid-2005 | Expansion into Early Childhood Education (PAUD)
In mid-2005, Pondok Sejahtera Kasih Bangsa took a significant step forward by expanding its services into early childhood education, establishing a Playgroup and Kindergarten (TK). Occupying a shophouse on Jalan Bangun Nusa Raya, East Cengkareng, this initial academic venture began by managing one class for Group A and two classes for Group B.
2008 | The First Kindergarten Graduation
Consistency in delivering quality education yielded tangible results. By 2008, Pondok Sejahtera Kasih Bangsa Kindergarten successfully graduated its first three cohorts, totaling approximately 200 children who demonstrated excellent aptitude levels.
2008 – 2009 | The Establishment of Mitra 52 Foundation & PSKB Elementary School
Entering the 2008-2009 Academic Year, the Mitra 52 Foundation was established under the guidance of Rev. Samuel Gunawan, the Presiding Pastor of Gereja Bethel Indonesia (GBI) Rayon 1B. This official foundation was formed to oversee Pondok Sejahtera Kasih Bangsa Kindergarten. In the same year, the foundation expanded its academic scope by establishing an Elementary School named Sekolah Pondok Sejahtera Kasih Bangsa (PSKB), welcoming its inaugural cohort of 13 students in Grade 1.
The Establishment of Sekolah Kasih Bagi Bangsa (SKBB)
2011 | Major Transformation & The Birth of SKBB
The year 2011 marked a momentum of profound restructuring aimed at elevating the quality of formal education. The learning facilities, which initially occupied only one shophouse, were expanded into four shophouses modified to meet formal school standards. This physical expansion was accompanied by a comprehensive overhaul of the school system, management, and curriculum. Driven by a steadfast determination to serve children from underprivileged families while ensuring they receive the best education while fostering Christ-like character, PSKB School officially transformed and was renamed Sekolah Kasih Bagi Bangsa (SKBB).
Academic Year 2014 – 2015 | Launch of the Junior High School Division
The institutional progression continued in the 2014-2015 Academic Year with the official opening of the Junior High School (SMP) division. Thanks to the full support of the Mitra 52 Foundation Board, the entire congregation of GBI Rayon 1B West Jakarta, and dedicated donors, SKBB began to emerge as a reputable educational institution trusted by parents.
Academic Year 2016 – 2017 | Entrusted with Hundreds of Students
Growing public trust brought rapid development to the school. By the 2016-2017 Academic Year, SKBB was entrusted with the education of 370 students across the Kindergarten, Elementary, and Junior High School divisions.
Academic Year 2017 – 2018 | Completing the TK-SMA Academic Pipeline
SKBB fulfilled its educational commitment in the 2017-2018 Academic Year by officially launching its Senior High School (SMA) division, commencing with an inaugural class of 20 students. With this addition, SKBB successfully transformed into an integrated, single-roof educational institution spanning Kindergarten, Elementary, Junior High, and Senior High School, with a total student body reaching 440 students.
